Itinerary

Day 1: Christchurch discovery (team meeting)

You are free to discover Christchurch on your own. Consider punting on the Avon River, exploring Christchurch by city tram, or taking the Christchurch Gondola for a panoramic view. At 6 pm, gather for an evening meeting and followed by  a delightful dinner at a local restaurant. This is a perfect opportunity to connect, share experiences, and set the stage for an exciting journey together. Overnight in Christchurch, marking the beginning of your exploration of the scenic South Island.

Special note: This day holds significant importance as it marks the first welcome meeting with your tour guide, during which we will confirm insurance details and discuss the itinerary. If, for any reason, you are unable to attend this crucial session or have specific requests regarding your flight and accommodation, kindly reach out to us in advance.

Day 2: Christchurch exploration - Picton

Free to explore the morning at your own pace then bid a fond farewell to Christchurch as you start your journey to Picton. with a stop in Kaikōura to take in the breathtaking beach scenery. For an added treat, consider taking a short walk to spot the sea lions in their natural habitat. Once you arrive in Picton, unwind and refresh at the picturesque waterfront, where you’ll spend the night.

Day 3: Picton - Wellington

Enjoy the crisp morning air as you take in the serene beauty of Picton Harbour then board a ferry to Wellington. During the 3.5-hour crossing between the islands, enjoy the stunning scenery of the Cook Strait. Once in Wellington, take the time to explore the capital city at your own pace. Don’t forget to indulge in the vibrant culinary scene and discover the city’s diverse food offerings. Spend the night in Wellington.

Day 4: Highlights of Wellington

Today, you have the freedom to explore the capital at your own pace, with recommendations from tour guides. Wellington’s city center is super walkable, allowing you to easily discover all the activities on foot. For some attractions outside the city, regular shuttles are available to transport you. Enjoy your day of exploration and be sure to share your discoveries with us. Around 4 pm, join the tour leader for a delightful foodie tour in Wellington, renowned for its exceptional beer, coffee, and culinary offerings.

Day 5: Wellington - Napier

Embark on a scenic 4-hour drive to Napier, with a brief stop in Palmerston North to marvel at the impressive wind turbine. Continue your journey to Napier, often referred to as the “City of Art Deco,” and admire its unique architectural charm.

While in Napier, visit one of the most prominent wineries in Hawke’s Bay – the Church Road Winery. Enjoy the distinctive design of the winery and partake in a wine tasting experience. Sample wines directly from the cellars and gain technical insights into the meticulous craft behind Church Road wines.

Conclude your day with an overnight stay at Napier Port.

Day 6: Napier - Taupo

Day 7: Taupo - Rotorua

Travel from Taupo to Rotorua to visit Te Puia, located in the Te Whakarewarewa Geothermal Valley, where you’ll encounter hot springs, mud pools, and geysers. Follow a local expert as they guide you through the landscape, highlighting the largest geyser in the North Island, Pohutu.

Next, visit the Kiwi House Bird Enclosure to learn about New Zealand’s iconic kiwi birds and conservation efforts to protect them. You’ll have the chance to observe these unique birds in a darkened enclosure. Take a short walk to the Ahua Gallery, where you can see Maori carving and weaving demonstrations. Then, immerse yourself in Māori culture by enjoying a Haka performance, followed by a delicious Hāngī buffet lunch to conclude the experience

In the afternoon, visit Agrodome Sheep Farm. Get ready for entertainment and education with the legendary Farm Show! You will enjoy amazing facts and plenty of laughs as you’re introduced to 19 breeds of sheep. Watching farm dogs demonstrate their incredible ability to respond to commands and skilfully herd sheep and ducks. Overnight in Rotorua.

Next on the itinerary is a visit to the Hobbiton movie set. Explore the movie set accompanied by a knowledgeable local guide, discovering the newly built Hobbit hole (completed in December 2023). Conclude the tour with a refreshing drink at the mythical Green Dragon Inn, soaking in the enchanting atmosphere before embarking on your drive to Auckland, marking the end of your memorable journey.
